DUmmies and KOmmies Hit Panic Button Over New Gallup Poll

What a difference a few weeks make. Back in July, Barack Obama was sailing to his inevitable coronation with the November election itself being a mere technical detail according to both the DUmmies and KOmmies. However, a few things intervened. One was Obama's "citizen of the world" appearance in Berlin which might have gained him a few worthless German votes but cost him support here. Then the disastrous Saddleback forum appearance in which The One proved himself to be "above his pay grade." Finally, and most importantly, was John McCain's choice of Sarah Palin as his running mate. It was like Frodo tossing the ring of power into the fires of Mt. Doom with the result that the evil forces of Mordor began to quickly dissolve away as the Eye of Sauron came crashing down. And now the latest Gallup poll reflects Obama's steep slide in the latest poll results showing him leading Obama by 10 points among likely voters. You can see the panic in both this DUmmie THREAD and this KOmmie THREAD. So let us now join the DUmmies and KOmmies in mid panic attack in Bolshevik Red while the commentary of your humble correspondent, noting that Obama got MOOSED, is in the [barackets]:

Bad News: McCain up 10, 54-44 (LV), 50-46 (RV) (Gallup/USA Today)

Don't shoot the messenger:

[Don't shoot the DUmmie:]

"McCain leads Democrat Barack Obama by 50%-46% among registered voters, the Republican's biggest advantage since January and a turnaround from the USA TODAY poll taken just before the convention opened in St. Paul. Then, he lagged by 7 percentage points."

"In the new poll, taken Friday through Sunday, McCain leads Obama by 54%-44% among those seen as most likely to vote. The survey of 1,022 adults, including 959 registered voters, has a margin of error of +/— 3 points for both samples."

[SOB!!! I feel like wallowing in my arugula!]

McCain got an 17 pt bounce??? obama was up 7- now mac is up 10. that's an 17 point bounce!?

[How does it feel to be bitten by a barracuda?]

Nothing but a fundy red bounce. Do Not Sweat It. This has nothing to do with the swing states & is just red states getting redder so chill out everyone.

[Please everybody! Pay no attention to the landslide that is about to envelop you!]

who cares... this is just his RNC bounce... it is expected...

[Posted the DUmmie in the midst of nervous urinations.]

Do I believe that the majority of voters want to see a McLame/Failin presidency? Nope, I sure don't. But, if you're going to steal an election, the first thing you have to do is make it APPEAR close.

[Your Diebolds are already set to "R."]

Looks like I'll be checking out of DU until the hysteria settles down.

[And checking into Bukowski's.]

He waited too long to react and he let McCain define Palin as the best thing ever.

[John Kerry II.]

Specifically, we need to arm ourselves with all the information we can get regardless of if it is nasty or not. You never know what will turn a person you are trying to convince. I'm not saying to encourage things we know are not true, but we need to know these people who want to run our country inside and out. And personal lives are the true windows into what a person believes. Anyone can say whatever they want, but when you look at how they live that is the only truth there is. We cannot make anything out of bounds. That is what makes me pissed off...people who say "we're too good for that". BAH!

[Toss unproved dirt in all directions at all times!]

UGH! She is the story now. We need to be taking her down with everyone we know.

[DIRT! GIMME DIRT!!!]

I think you could be right. In any case, Obama's team has done a bad job of messaging. He is getting lost in all this Palin coverage.

[Draft George (rhymes with) Lackoff to do some framing.]

Wake up folks. We gotta get the message out. Mobilize our friends in the media. Obama get back on message, please.

[Time to bring in Bob Shrum to run the Obama campaign. Hee! Hee!]

Just the reds getting redder with the addition of a fundy to the ticket. Absolutely zero to worry about.

[Sleep peacefully, Miss Pollyanna.]

Calm the f*ck down. I don't use profanity often but will you all show some balls. Take a few Xanax until Wednesday when this "convention bounce" will be over and the race will once again be tied. Use some common sense-most polls are showing a bounce of 2-4 point for McCainiac today. A convention bounce is just that, a bounce. It's the start of September and there's 2 more months of campaigning to go. Take my word for it this race will either be tied or Obama will have a slight lead by next weekend

[After Wednesday, mix in some cyanide with that Xanax.]

McCain got the Bigger Bounce +17. This same poll had Obama up +7 last week, and now down 10. That is a 17 point swing. Pretty significant. Obama has got to get his act together. Get back on offense. I saw where Palin is going to campaign in swing states all week, instead of going back to Alaska. They are getting crowds to rival Obama's now. I am getting worried.

[Take two Xanax and HIT THE PANIC BUTTON!!!]

i am

in a state of despair

at least dems will win in the congressional contests

my hopes are fading for the prez election

[despair haiku]

What is frustrating is we haven't learned from the past.

[Freudenschade, baby!]

I'm going to wait a week...If the lead doesn't subside I will be legitimately concerned...Anybody that isn't by then is a living in a parallel universe...

[Don't forget the Chicky Run cliff in Malibu if the lead doesn't subside. Now on the the despair in KOmmieland...]

Don't shoot the messenger. A new poll coming out in tomorrow's USA Today has McCain up 54 to 44 amongst LVs, 50 to 46 amongst RV.

[We won't shoot the messenger, but can we shoot the KOmmie?]

I think things are bleak for Obama. He's not a great debater and John Kerry actually was quite good. His media campaign sucks.

[Would you feel better if I recite the despair haiku for you?]

LOok Obama, as it stands, is going to lose this election unless he gets his ass in gear.

[That might be tough to do since he just got Moosed.]

A Clinton aide was quoted as saying she's won't be an attack dog on Palin, and that Obama's people haven't asked her to. I'm guessing it's not that HRC won't attack a woman, it's that she thinks it's beneath her to attack the VP pick. And she may have a point...

[Hillary is the secret weapon...of Republicans.]

I do NOT believe the polls, they are typically wrong, and even if they are close to being right, we are still in this race!!

[I remember back in June when both KOmmieland and DUmmieland were covered with polls loudly proclaiming a landslide victory for the Lightworker.]

Axelrod should hang his head in Shame. Never have we had such an incompetent "strategist".

[You're forgetting about Bob (Eddie Mush) Shrum.]

Axelrod is Incompetent. I would rather have a 2nd year business consultant at McKinsey run his campaign, then Axelrod. In fact, if Axelrod deferred to some of the McKinsey people on his staff, we wouldn't be in this bind.

[A certain former press secretary for Dennis Kucinich is desperately looking for work.]

Where is our Media Buy against Palin? Oh, I forget, Axelrod prefers to burn through millions of dollars on the salaries of "field operatives" rather than TV spots.

[Arugula doesn't come cheap.]

I wonder... how many of the thousands of newly registered voters we've been registering are getting polled?

[None of the ones residing in cemeteries.]

I think I'm going to cry. I know that's not helpful in any way. I should probably just keep it to myself. But 10 POINTS!!!! Oh dear. I wish the debates were sooner. The first one is 20 days away.

[I was thinking, "Down goes Obama"
Feeling Barry's sure to slide
When all at once I saw, filled with drama
The lib'ral white crowd that cried

They told me they believe what he preaches
And no one cares what he tries to hide
They said sometimes just warm fuzzy speeches
Make all the lib'ral crowds cry

They said Barack will solve all our issues
Heal our souls, still all our fears
Don't ask how, just pass us the tissues
Our eyeballs flow with tears

They asked me why the rest of the voters
Don't believe, their eyeballs are dry
That's how I know that come this November
The lib'ral white crowd will sit right down and cry]

I always cringed during the debates when he'd go "uhmm, uhmmm" and go into a two-minute answer instead of a thirty-second answer for his main point.

[I bet Joe Biden can stretch his answers out even longer. He is THE expert at that.]

Obama has improved though recently on those "ums." His press conferences this week he has caught himself saying those ums. I don't want to hear any of them in the debates.

[Good news! Obama is replacing his "ums" with "uhs."]

yes - we should all panic, and I seriously mean this. a week ago everyone here was giddy, doing happy dances and stocking up on popcorn. so happy McCain chose Palin and now- these same smart people are telling us to ignore the polls showing McCain pulling ahead BIG TIME when really nothing else has changed except the Palin selection -- yes - cell phones, outliers, new registrations, blah, blah blah. if the polls showed Obama up 10 we'd all be chugging champagne right now. get real people! this is real! we're in a fight and we're losing

[Break out the Freudenschade champagne!]

Disaster! Worse than Kerry, it's Dukakis Redux!

[Obama's in the tank!]

This is what happens when you run a softball style campaign at a major league level! And enough with bounce crap! Obama is blowing it!

[He"s still ahead with the Berlin voters.]

Maybe I'm a pessimist but there was nothing in that convention, except Palin, that could have created a bounce for McCain. If she hadn't been there, this would probably be over now. Imagine if McCain had picked Lieberman--you think there'd have been a bounce? It's the powerful boost that Palin gave the Republican narrative that is driving the poll numbers, and it could--who knows--get even worse.

[Why do you think the MSM was pushing McCain to pick Lieberman?]

I want to scream! What is wrong with all of these stupid idiots! Do people really want four more years of the same bullshit!!!! When will they learn? When our nation is in ruins?

[Primal Screen Therapy is going to become very popular after Election Day on Nov. 5.]

It seems strange to me that since the polls have NEVER shown huge advantage to either side, a slight uptick would cause this hysteria.

Had Obamopolis held a massive lead at one time, sure, I could see some surprise, but this has been a statistical dead heat forever! Now McCain injects some life into the process in the last 60 days and there's a twitch.

Is it momentum? A groundswell? A narrative that Americans are going to take home, chew over, sleep on and give serious thought to?

I hope (C) "all of the above". Perhaps a sizeable number will realize that this Republican ticket is NOT 'Bush II'.

It is something new, different and potentially, quite exciting!

Getting the vapors over McCain's "bounce" is a typical DUmmie reaction, they're always either in a state giddy elation or cosmic dispair.

Advice to DUmmies: don't pay attention to polls, they'll continue to bounce around for the next two months. Polls don't mean anything until about seven days prior to election day.

PJ, buddy! I know it's part of the joke but you can't just pick your own number of syllables for haiku. Let's walk through this one together and maybe we can salvage the DUmmie if he/she actually wanted a haiku.

DUmmie Haiku:

a state of despair
dems will win in the congress
fading hopes for prez

Now let's inject a little reality.

My Haiku:

a state of despair
Obammasiah fading

Yes, Obama lives in a big house gotten through his "friend" Tony Rezko. He's pals with Ayers and Wright. One of these days, the media is going to allow you to see the truth (right after Obama loses the election.)

What these folks really need to be concerned about is the Bradley Effect. It seems when a minority candidate runs for higher office, people don't want to appear prejudiced, so they may lie and say they plan to vote for the person.

In the past this effect has been about 10%. So if the person was polling 55% to 45% they might lose it by that same margin.

I've been looking at the polls and any that had McCain behind, but within 4 or 5 percent, I looked at as a lead.

This should make the nutters worried as hell.

Schadenfreude is the correct spelling. That PJ spells it the way he does is a joke referring to a DU post, back when they thought Rove was going to be indicted, and the DUmmies spelled it with the syllables backwards. PJ uses it to mean DUmmies premature cheering turning to despair.

Yes it is. It's something of an inside joke here. The "Freudenschade" reference was taken from a DU thread some time ago. Now you're in on the joke.

The Obots and their pets, the Left-Wing Media waited what, like, 15 minutes, before raking Gov. Palin and her entire family over the coals?

I guess the DUmmies don't realize that it was their very excess of vitriol that increased support for her and created such public interest that millions more tuned in to her acceptance speech than might have otherwise.

Yes, do, please, keep up the good work of assassinating her and her family's characters.

Who released the information that her teenaged daughter was pregnant? That's a simple question.

Let me ask you something. If Obama had a knocked up 17 year old daughter, fathered by an inner cities basketball player, wouldn't you friggin hypocrites be screaming your religious asses off by now? You know you would. So just STFU.

This is the woman who J. Sidney's fine with becoming president. Are you? Really. Tell me how you know her. Tell me how capable she is of being president. I dare any fucking one of you to make a convincing case. Just one.

Trog, no one would care of Obama "knocked up" a 17 year-old if he MARRIED her and they raised that child together. Unlike Obama and the rest of the liberals, conservatives care about that unborn child and we want both the mother and the father to be responsible and raise that child together. It's only when that child is abandoned or aborted that we'd start screaming our "religious" ass off, ya friggen idiot.

Not really Trog, especially if, as is the case with Palin, the daughter intended to keep the baby and was engaged to the baby's father. In either case, that would be more a reflection on the character of the daughter than upon the character of Obama himself.

After that we can move on to include Shinto atheism and some other forms in our big tent.

Maybe even agnostic atheism - just to make sure that if there really is a god, we would definitely ignore it/him.
