DUmmie "deeply offended" by "scantily-clad" atheist ad

I have long held that the driving force for DUmmies is their burning hatred of Christianity. So when an ad for an atheist organization appears in DUmmieland, you would think all the DUmmies would stand up and salute. Right? Wrong. One brave soul (or Lousy Freeper Troll?), DUmmie Fly by night, has dared to deviate from DUmmie orthodoxy by complaining about said atheist ad, in this THREAD, "I am deeply offended by the "Rational Responders" ad on the DU "Greatest" page." To top it off, the atheist ad features a "scantily-clad model," and DUmmie Fly by night also is offended by that.

So this now creates a maelstrom of conflicting emotions in DUmmieland: DUmmie complains about atheist ad. Most DUmmies believe in atheism, though, and thus don't want ad pulled. DUmmie also complains about scantily-clad model. Most DUmmies are scantily moraled, though, and thus defend the tawdry ad. Cries of "Censorship!" arise. The True Unbelievers jump all over the erring offendee! And DUFU hilarity ensues! So let us get out our DUmmie Ant Farm and watch our ants scurry about, in Bolshevik Red, while the commentary of your humble guest correspondent, Charles Henrickson, wondering who atheists will give thanks to on Thursday, is in the [brackets]:

I am deeply offended by the "Rational Responders" ad on the DU "Greatest" page

[Prepare to feel the wrath of Irrational Responders!]

Sometimes I think ads like this are intentionally placed on progressive web-sites like DU as a psych-op effort to discredit the web-site. Whoever accepted this ad should have her/his head examined.

[Head DUmmie Skinner is a secret Rove operative. Shhh!]

A scantily-clad model in a cop uniform insulting people who believe in God?

[Scantily-clad model? No problem for your fellow DUmmies. Insulting people who believe in God? Likewise, no problem. A cop uniform? Now THAT could be a problem.]

BTW, I am an animist, not a born-again Christian. My Higher Power is Mother Earth, not a masculine God in a flowing white beard.

[Even the DUmmie who complains about the atheist ad is a wacky goofball! Why am I not surprised?]

We have no control over the Google ads that are displayed BEFORE they are displayed. However, we can filter them out after the fact. . . .

[Typically passive DUmmie mod EarlG jumps in first to try to placate the complainer without actually committing to DO anything. And now, DUmmie Fly by night, ask Gaia for help as you get attacked by the True Unbelievers. . . .]

YOU might be offended, but that doesn't mean the rest of us are.

[The rest of us LIKE atheist ads!]

hahahah.. I never NOTICED the ad, but NOW I clicked on the link to see what the fuss was

[DUmmie Fly by night's complaint only draws more interest from the DUmmies! Maybe it was a clever advertising ploy!]

you may be trying to censor an ad some of us would like to see. Atheism? Scantily clad babes? Two of my favorite things.

[And then there's the atheism, also.]

Don't look now but the ad is still there.

[Passive DUmmie mods sit on their hands, as usual. Original offendee Fly by night replies. . . .]

Either way, I said my peace, the mods responded, and all of us have had a discussion about the limits of freedom (should there be any?) and the appropriateness of license (is everything, everywhere, all the time, regardless of the costs, what we mean by "freedom"? If it is, there are other places to celebrate a "free" republic. I'm glad we don't descend to their level often here, even with so many of them in our midst.

[Maybe YOU, Fly by night, are one of those freepers in our midst! Now back to the other DUmmies. . . .]

Thank you for keeping DU safe from scantily clad atheist babes.

[I detect a note of sarcasm.]

We need to be veewwwy caweful, west we aweeeinate the vawyooz votews. We must bee veewy, veeewy caweful. The vawyooz votews awe evwywhewe! Theywe watching this site, wooking for ewidence that democwats and wibewals hate cwistians and amewica!

[Thank you for providing that ewidence on a daily basis.]

EarlG, are you telling me only ONE person has to complain and an ad is removed? I thought you made money with adds, give them an inch and the freepers will be complaining about ALL the adds!!!

[It adds up!]

Not saying the OP is a freeper. . . .

[Yes you are.]

the Matt Blunt ad is kinda offensive since he is a Republican running for re-election in Missouri. The ad goes to a donation page and then an issues page without obvious mention that Blunt is a Republican.

[Hee! Hee! A Rethuglican governor snuck an ad onto DU! That's worse than atheism and pornography combined! Hey, DUmmies: Matt Blunt is only $10 away from making Missouri a theocracy! Donate now!]

You know, I think that "people of faith" should take their chances with the rest of us. But I guess you won't. . . .

[You lump the original poster in with "people of faith"? How dare you! As Fly by night hastens to point out. . . .]

If you can read, you know I'm not a traditional "person of faith". I am a tree-hugger (and worshipper). I believe that THIS is heaven -- and my spiritual beliefs require absolutely no faith to hold and trust. I live by karma, not by dogma of either the atheist or the Xtian persuasion.

[I don't let any dogma piss on my tree! Oh, btw, does anyone else see the inherent contradiction in the idea, "my spiritual beliefs require absolutely no faith to hold and trust"?]

But I do object to making fun of people of any spiritual orientation here on DU, and doing it with a scantily-clad model wearing a cop's hat. The only thing she wasn't doing was wiping her ass with an American flag.

[That's next week's ad.]

It was all right there, flopping out of the model's shirt (so to speak).

[The ad was a flop.]

I am also glad we don't run ads for Hustler or dildos here, though anyone who favors ugly nudes and auto-erotic penetration might differ.

[Now you've got benburch's attention!]

My biggest concern, besides seeing T&A and anti-deistic sentiments expressed prominently here in an advertisement, was my concern that someone in the opposition could easily point to such tacky tripe as reflective of our beliefs, values and attitudes here.

[Wherever would they get such an idea?!]

Once again, I don't believe in a God.

[I DON'T BELIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVE!!!!!!!!!!]

So a Jew, a Christian, and a big tittied cop walk in to a bar and...

[. . . and find Pitt passed out on the floor.]

LOL! Oh the conflict!

The drama! The senseless sanity of it all!

So! A Priest, an atheist, a Mullah, a horse and a duck walk into a bar.

The bartender looks at them and says:
"What is this? A joke?"

"Flybynight" should've called herself "FlewRightByMeThere" DOH!

Not only didn't she note the irony pointed out above, she didn't comprehend the irony of censorship while expounding on the "right not to be offended" she was trying to mask it with.

My fave part of DUmmie threads: The conflict between those who think true liberal sentiments need to be hidden, (because they unpopular), and those who think they should be prouldly proclaimed, (because they are popular).

The smarter DUmmies are of the former sort and support the likes of Hillary, hoping that she really is a DUmmie, not just a globalist, corporatist liar. They will be dissapointed, but they at least make a rational, strategic move. The latter support the kook and his ilk and are delusional moonbats.

FUnnie to watch !

Why is it that a lot of your DUmmie types are quick to dismiss and mock one's belief in a religion, particularly if it is of the Christian variety? Yet in the same breath they profess their belief in karma. If one believes that the good or bad they do is eventually rewarded/punished accordingly, doesn't that require belief in some type of higher power?.

I guess the one true DUmmie religion is really hypocrisy

A child molester, a pervert, and a fool walk into a bar. The bartender turns to them and says: "Good evening Mr. Pitt, Mr. Burch, and Mr. Skinner.

Ray has it right, this thread is useless without pictures.

I am surprised that a DUmmie would deny to God Her right to dress in the sexy costume of Her choice. It's all about choice my fellow moonbats.

Hillary might look nice as the sexy cop, but not as nice as John Edwards.

As for me, I'd recommend Crissy Moran as a good third party option. Nader is a bit long in tooth, the kook is ..., whatever, that's too bizarre to even contemplate.
