Nurse Ratched Excludes Evil Elf From Iowa Debate

Nurse Ratched doesn't like you. Watch out! You are in BIG trouble with with the passionless Nurse Ratched. Nurse Ratched wants you to raise your hands to answer the question. You will NOT be permitted to reply in any other way. Those are the rules as set down by Nurse Ratched aka Carolyn Washburn, the editor of the Des Moines Register. Washburn has made herself the most unpopular debate moderator ever with her Nurse Ratched antics which were on full display last night particularly when she demanded that the candidates must ONLY raise their hands in response to a question about Global Warming. No other reply would be permitted by Nurse Ratched despite protestations by Fred Thompson who refused to play her game. Better watch out Fred or you might find yourself the victim of an unwanted lobotomy by Nurse Ratched. As if Nurse Rathed (Carolyn Washburn) couldn't make herself any more unpopular, she has now pissed off the DUmmies and the rest of the Left with her exclusion of Dennis Kucinich from tonight's debate in Iowa. And what was the reason? Well, Nurse Ratched and her Des Moines Register politburo have decreed that no candidate can be permitted in the debate if their campaign headquarters is a home office as opposed to a separate rented office in the state. I kid you not. So what would be the motivation of this dopey rule which seems to be directed solely at Kucinich? My guess is that Carolyn Washburn, a registered Democrat, views Kucinich as an upstart who threatens to draw votes away from the "mainline" Democrat candidates whom she supports. As it is the DUmmies are OUTRAGED at this ridiculous exclusion as you can see in this THREAD titled, "Kucinich booted from Iowa debate." So let us now watch the DUmmie patients rise up against Nurse Ratched in Bolshevik Red while the commentary of your humble correspondent, hoping that the next presidential debate is moderated by Allison Williams of Channel 13 in Norfolk VA, is in the [brackets]:

Kucinich booted from Iowa debate

[He broke a rule set down by Nurse Ratched.]

Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D) is being excluded from this week’s Iowa presidential debate because he has not rented office space in the Hawkeye State, his campaign said Wednesday.

The Des Moines Register informed the campaign that Kucinich is not invited because the newspaper determined “that a person working out of his home did not meet our criteria for a campaign office and full-time paid staff in Iowa,” the campaign said.

[Even if Kucinich had a separate campaign office, Nurse Ratched would have excluded the Evil Elf for not meeting the height requirements or some other abitrary rule she set down.]

Hair-splitting technicalities indeed!

[If not that technicality, then Kucinich would have been excluded for having the wrong astrological sign.]

Isn't this typical of politics - they drown who may upset the applecart?

[Especially Hillary's applecart.]

Let's all face the facts - Dennis is just as serious about this race as Dodd or Gravel or any of the others. His exclusion is based on the fact that much of what he says makes the top tier candidates and the Party leadership very uncomfortable.

[The Evil Elf makes Nurse Ratched very very uncomfortable.]

He would win the nomination if they would let him debate!!!!!!

[I'm hoping that Kucinich tries to CRASH today's debate in Iowa. It would be great to see the reaction to that by Nurse Ratched.]

this is a disgrace..a total disgrace! this is not my party any longer..that's how i feel..

[Remember, Nurse Ratched (Carolyn Washburn) is a registered Democrat.]

I agree with you, the others should show support of DK and
demand his participation or cancel the debate. Quite simple, really. It is about fairness and equality. Something many have forgotten lately.

[Calling Nurse Ratched! The patients are revolting. They stink on ice.]

oh so Alan Keys counts and Kucinich doesn't????????? that is horseshit! pure horseshit!

[I wondered about that myself but one does not argue with Nurse Ratched.]

And get this- Kucinich OUT, Alan Keys IN!

[You just earned yourself a lobotomy.]

so do we have our people before the debate auditorium and outside the newspaper's corporate office. I wish I was there to vent my spleen.

[Vent away, my little DUmmie.]

When I called the Des Moines Register. the man in the newsroom saidhe wasn't sure if Alan L=Keys had an ofice in Iowa! I was avble to pass onthat info to David Bright today. His wife was VERY interested to hear that about Keys..They are stil working to get him included. read this..............

[Nurse Ratched is very flexible with the rules when it suits her...and Hillary.]

Vilsacked! It's the Hillary Express.

["Vilsacked!" I like that. A new word to add to the political lexicon.]

Maybe there is more to today's omission than meets the eye. For the last week and a half or so, the DM Register has been running a series on the Democratic and Republican candidates in the opinion section, rating each candidate's position on various issues. Guess which candidate was not included? That's right. DK. The Democrats included Biden, Clinton, Dodd, Edwards, Obama, and Richardson.

[Nurse Ratched had orders from Hillary to Vilsack Kucinich. BTW, if Alan Keys didn't have a separate campaign office in Iowa then this would definitely appear to be a case of Elf discrimination.]

Hope others will bombard the paper with requests to include Dennis Kucinich in this debate. What a trumped up reason. Even if the campaigns were given this instruction from the beginning it is a ridiculous reason to exclude Dennis. I am beginning to really hate the MSM.

[Perhaps you should start by checking to see if Alan Keys had a campaign office in Iowa. I barely even knew he was in the race. Yet somehow Keys is permitted to debate but the Evil Elf is excluded.]

Does Alan Keyes have a campaign office in Iowa?

[I assign that question to both DUmmies and Freepers. If he doesn't then this is a clear case of Elf discrimination on the part of Nurse Ratched and the Des Moines Register.]

Dennis and his lovely wife should make out in front of the venue in protest to his being excluded.

[Allison Williams of WVEC TV should definitely moderate that event.]

He HAS an office in the state. The technicality is that it's not in a commercial space. Why don't they just exclude him for being too short for the microphone stands they have... geeez...

[Does Alan Keys have a COMMERCIAL office space in Iowa? If not, then Nurse Ratched and the Des Moines Register are going to look mighty discrimatory.]

Why is Alan "No office in Iowa" Keyes being INCLUDED?

[Calling NewsBusters! Can this be confirmed? If Alan Keyes had no campaign office in Iowa, then this is a clear case of Elf discrimination on the part of the Des Moines Register.]

So, you're an Alan Keyes supporter? He doesn't even have a home office in Iowa

[We need confirmation on this although I suspect that Keyes has no Iowa campaign office. In fact, does he even have a campaign office ANYWHERE?]

Keyes passed the test according to the debate's sponsor: Iowa Public Television.

[So Alan Keyes does have a COMMERCIAL campaign office in Iowa? I find that hard to believe. We need CONFIRMATION.]

It's obvious to me that the reason given for DK's exclusion is arbitrary since they allowed Alan Keyes at the R debate even though he does not have any office, whether home or other, in Iowa, so I am confused as to why every democrat isn't upset over this decision considering how much power this one newspaper has over the election process in this case.

[I'm pretty sure you are right about Keyes but we need CONFIRMATION that he didn't have an Iowa campaign office. If this turns out to be true, the Evil Elf may yet have a chance to be in tonight's Iowa debate and confront Nurse Ratched.]

How is it reasonable.. to include Alan Keyes but not Dennis?
If the Register had given a different reason or didn't invite Alan, maybe I could agree with you, but barring that it just looks like discrimination towards the democrats to me and I don't understand why any democrat would defend it, regardless of how they feel about Dennis or the way he's running his campaign.

[The DUmmies actually do have an excellent point here about Alan Keyes. If Keyes had no Iowa campaign office then the Des Moines Register CAN'T exclude the Evil Elf from tonight's debate. To do so would make them look like the hypocrites they are.]

"When you put clowns in charge, don't be surprised if a Circus breaks out".

Ohhh! This just gets better and better! Griselda, (the bad witch-editor of some rag in Iowa) has managed to make the debates about her incompetence, petulance and coprophilia right off the bat!

The Republican debate is being lauded as "The Worst Debate in History", and how (or why) Alan Keyes was included is a mystery.

Now? The Kookmeister himself, Dennis Kucinich is booted for some ridiculous hair-splitting? This is going down as another disaster even before it starts!

Cue the Klinton Klown Kar!

That "show of hands" question really pissed me off. Props to my man Thompson for refusing to participate in Nurse Ratched's third grade politics.

Meanwhile, the Paulites are up in arms about things as trivial as this:

What the hell are you guys talking about?

"No other reply would be permitted by Nurse Ratched despite protestations by Fred Thompson who refused to play her game. Better watch out Fred or you might find yourself the victim of an unwanted lobotomy by Nurse Ratched." PJ

"...she has now pissed off the DUmmies and the rest of the Left with her exclusion of Dennis Kucinich from tonight's debate in Iowa...no candidate can be permitted in the debate if their campaign headquarters is a home office as opposed to a separate rented office in the state. I kid you not." PJ

This is some pretty straight forward stuff from PJ. Then he wrecks it by saying, "My guess is that Carolyn Washburn, a registered Democrat, views Kucinich as an upstart who threatens to draw votes away from the "mainline" Democrat candidates whom she supports." At least he says it's a 'guess', which it is.

So let me get this straight. The right thinks she's a dipshit. The left thinks she's a dipshit. But because she's a democrat, she's a demented and psychopathic dipshit. Gotcha. Because archetype Dems are so fucking crazy anyway. I get it.

How about this scenario:

You get into your car, turn on the radio, and hear "...high-ranking senator has been indicted tonight amid swirling rumors of corporate bribes and participation in an illegal gay sex-ring."

Hmmm. Democrat or Republican. Talk about archetypes.

Actually, if they DON'T mention party affiliation, it's a Dem.

If it's a Republican, every other word will be "Republican" or "Conservative".

It's a mystery, but it's true.

As for eliminating Kucinich, but allowing Keyes... She IS a demented dipshit. Can you say "hidden agenda"?

I knew you could!

What took you so long to figure it out?

I agree with the moonbats on this one. Its bull shit to keep Kookcinich out of the debate. If the dude's on the primary ballot he should be able to have his say. I think the reason they kept him out was because of his appeal to the base, the folks that vote in the primaries, and because of his Impeachment efforts. The Dem leadership dosen't want topic to come up.

You know what's really sad about this? Everybody, without a moment's hesitation, just takes it for granted that the Register is colluding with the Democratic Party, to further whatever strategy they've devised.

Wasn't there a time when newspapers at least tried to maintain the illusion of neutrality, or at the least, fairness? And wasn't there a time when this sort of public and obvious pandering would have offended the sensibilities of the general public?

Things are so corrupt, we don't blink and eye, it doesn't even occur to anyone to notice or mention the complete inappropriateness of it all.

What a shame.

Amen to that. It's gotten to the point where determining who's corrupt is irrelevant. It doesn't matter.
What a strange and scary place we've all made for ourselves.
