Laughable "Dirty Trick" Caught On Video

Have you ever signed a petition to put something on the ballot? It could be most anything. For example to prohibit the sale of cute little baby seal furs. Usually the person collecting the signatures will have several other ballot petitions for you to sign such as getting rid of mandatory car inspections or lowering property taxes or saving the Everglades or a whole host of other ballot propositions. Anybody who has ever signed ballot petitions know this is quite an ordinary procedure. The people collecting the signatures are paid for each petition filled out so they frequently have a "bundle" of them on hand for you to sign. I put "bundle" in quotes because suddenly "bundling" has been redefined by Drama Queen liberals as some sort of dirty trick as you can see in the video above about the California proposition to allocate its electoral votes by district rather than winner takes all. Of course the liberals despite their general opposition to the Electoral College are against this more proportional allocation of California's electoral votes. Why? Because they perceive it as helping Republicans which for them makes it a dirty trick along with "bundling." They act like this is some new dirty tactic despite the fact that proportional allocation of electoral votes in both Maine and Nebraska has been going on for years with nary a peep of protest from them. Note the FUnniest part of this video when Drama Queen Rick Jacobs (blue shirt) indulges in laughable histrionics in denouncing the fact that one of the initiatives petitions being "bundled" with the proportional Electoral College vote initiative is about building more children's hospitals in an effort to "hide" a dirty Republican trick. Apparently Mr. Jacobs has little experience in signing ballot petition initiatives because they are "bundled" all the time. Perhaps he would prefer if the person collecting the signatures had the EVIL Republican ballot initiative on a separate table for the initiative for the children and labeled as a dirty trick to help Republicans? The hilarious dramatics of Rick Jacobs on this laughable "dirty trick" is echoed by the KOmmies as you can see in this THREAD melodramatically titled, "From dkos to CBS Evening News: Dirty Tricksters Caught on Video." BTW, this SeeBS video shows the typical bias of that network since the entire theme of this ballot initiative being a dirty trick is only "balanced" by a brief one sentence statement by an EVIL Republican. Did no one at SeeBS figure out that "bundling" is done all the time when collecting signatures for ballot iniatives? So let us now watch the KOmmies get all worked up about a "dirty trick" called "bundling" in Bolshevik Red while the commentary of your humble correspondent, now adding the word "bundling" to the laughable liberal definition of dirty tricks, is in the [brackets]:

From dkos to CBS Evening News: Dirty Tricksters Caught on Video

[GASP! Did they cheat a little old lady out of her money? Please let us now what those EVIL Republicans are up to. It must be HORRIBLE!!!]

Just before Thanksgiving, I posted my video showing the illegal tactics that the Republicans are willing to use in order to get signatures on their so-called "Electoral College Reform Initiative" – a ballot proposal that in reality is yet another election-stealing Republican dirty trick. Thanks to the overwhelming response of the DailyKos community, my video has just been featured nationally on the CBS Evening News. The full story is over the fold.

[Why does it NOT surprise me that SeeBS News is enabling you loons by using your video? Illegal tactics? You mean you can't collect signatures for more than one ballot iniative at a time? Better arrest ALL the folks who collected ballot iniative signatures in the past going back for decades.]

The story of our video starts with the outstanding work of Vikingkingq, a Kossack and graduate student at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He contacted the Courage Campaign, and I went right out with a video camera.

[And caught a signature collector "bundling" the iniatives. CRIME OF THE CENTURY!!! ...And now let us read more of the laughable KOmmie outrage over this suddenly new crime called "bundling" which has always been a standard practice by left and right in collecting signatures...]

How do the proponents of this heist hope to overcome the obvious constitutional limitations on what it is that they are trying to do? For those not in the know, the constitution proscribes that states dole out electoral votes in a manner prescribed by their legislatures. A statewide referendum is not a legislative act, so it wouldn't seem to matter what this group does.

[Blame progressive Senator Johnson from about a hundred years ago in California. Statewide referendums can become state law despite what the state legislature wants. Remember Proposition 13?]

For all their effort they have succeded in uniting progressives.

[To act like laughable Drama Queens getting outraged over a redefined dirty trick.]

The GOP as a criminal enterprise. It's now time to deny the Republicans the dignity (undeserved) of a political party with some sort of an agenda that - for all its flaws - could credibly be regarded as an organization of good faith. It, in truth, is no more than a criminal enterprise for the sole purpose of accumulating and exploiting political power for purely selfish ends. It has more in common with the Mob than with a political movement. Recognizing it for what it is, throughout the country and the states (my home state, Missouri, has Matt Blunt as Perp No. 1), the appropriate response it to bring the GOP to justice.

[Congratulations! You have exactly the correct attitude to become a SeeBS producer.]

This electoral college scam was dreamed up by the rich landowners who didn't want their farm hands to get a real vote.

[And yet you get all upset when a group wants to make it more proportional to the vote.]

The California constitution delegates some legislative power to the people through the initiative and the referendum. It's really quite undemocratic to say that the people of the State cannot decide how their electoral votes are distributed!

[LOUSY FREEPER TROLL!!!]

But do you think that's how John Roberts and Samuel Alito are going to rule? Because if it goes to the courts, that's ALL that matters. We MUST kill it NOW. It cannot be allowed to go to the courts, and appealed all the way up to the Supreme Court, otherwise we'll have a repeat of 2000.

[So should they rule that the way Maine and Nebraska has been allocating their electoral votes for years is also illegal?]

Until this dirty trick is dead, we fight. We film. We organize. We blog.

[A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of woes and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight!]

This could have never happened without the support of the dkos community. Heck there is no way that any of us would be working for Courage and able to produce this video without dkos.

[If it hadn't been for the KOmmies, SeeBS might never have discovered the brand new dirty trick called "bundling." Perhaps those signature collectors should be forced to have the electoral college initiative quarantined to a separate table inside a sanitized chamber.]

This proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that these Republicans will stoop to anything to 'win'. Scumbags! Using sick children for their dirty work.

[What a dirty trick! "Bundling" sick children with an EVIL Republican iniative. They should never be allowed to let the electoral college initiative so much as even touch the dear sick children initiative.]

I'm rarely at a loss of words. I'm f*cking furious about this one! So someone dummy it down for me. If they get enough signatures.. it goes to a vote as a Proposition? How will it work?

[Read DUmmying for DUmmies.]

Incredibly well done. Lacking that video you caught Erik would have meant this story wouldn't have happened. This video doesn't show prosecutable crimes, but it's a conviction in the court of public opinion.

[Wait! You mean that letting separate ballot initiatives to touch each other when collecting signatures is NOT illegal? But..but how can that be? "Bundling" MUST be declared to be a felony!]

Find and confront petition circulators this week! The petition circulators are all over California this week. Their signature fee has been raised and they have no interest in the ethics of the initiative; its' a money making deal for them, that's all. They're going to be pushing hard. Look for them at flea markets, Home Depot's, Safeway's, Orchard Supply Stores, etc. And when you do, move in. First, see if they try to trick you into signing the electoral college petition under some other guise. If so, they're thiefs and liars and deserve to be treated as such. Yell at em and don't stop until they leave (And be the first to call the cops. If the police come, sorting the business out will take so long that the petition circulator will be out of action for hours).

[Hunt and destroy EVIL ballot petition collectors! Shame on them for making it even possible for the public to vote on this!]

Let's use DailyKos as way of announcing to each other across the state where the petition gatherers are working in real time. If we know where they are we can make their job much more difficult. The reasons for doing this have been made urgently clear. One way we can organize this is to keep a diary going throughout the day. The main purpose of the diary would be to coordinate efforts involved in locating petition workers and sending people out to confront them.

[The KOmmies are going to work in wolfpacks to torpedo the efforts of the petition collectors.]

Someone correct me if I'm wrong But as of right now EVERY STATE in the Union gives all of its electoral votes to the state majority, correct?

[Wrong! Check out Maine and Nebraska referenced above.]

that video is not incriminating. I've only heard anecdotal reports of the use of deceptive language to bait people, that kind of evidence is what's needed on camera

[And this KOmmie WINS a Kewpie Doll for having a brief moment of mental clarity!]

We have these signature collectors all the time in front of our local Trader Joe's store.

Usually, they set up a table with an "Impeach Cheney!" sign (during the last presidential election, it was "Bush will bring back the draft!")

Anyway, one of these leftards accosted me while I was leaving the store, so I decided to hear him out... And HE was bundling petitions as well... I didn't feel it was a "dirty trick", because well, you know, I can read and stuff.

Anyway, the 1st petition to sign was related to some Indian gaming casino they wanted to bring to the county (Ventura, CA)... No problem. Maybe you want a casino, maybe you don't... Sure, I'll sign. The 2nd petition was about not building near some field or something... Nah, I'll skip that one.

Lastly, was the very same electoral ballot initiative that was being talked about by the DUmmies.

I kid you not, this hippie signature collector says "and THIS one is so that everyone in California can have their vote counted! It will allow proportional representation of our votes so that what nearly happened last time will never happen again... Bush almost took California because of the way the electoral process works!" (I swear, these were almost his EXACT words)

I gave him a "WTF?" look, and he repeated "this will ensure that every vote is meaningful and a single pary can't buy the electoral vote!"

I examined the petition closely... It was the same one as in the DUmmie thread.

I signed it very legibly while shaking my head in disbelief at the baffoon... He returned my smirk with a wink and a nod.

Rove, we know you're still out there, you magnificent bastard! :)

I rather think that it's a case of "If the GOP is doing it, there must be cannibalism, paedophilia, line-dancing, dwarf-tossing and other miscellaneous hate crimes... because that's what Repulicans do!"

That said, I'm going to Electric Slide on home and toss a young dwarf on the barbie.

Where's my gun?

"The main purpose of the diary would be to coordinate efforts involved in locating petition workers and sending people out to confront them."

There you have it folks, a call to suppress the people's ability to actually petition (and vote) on matters of CA State governmental policy. So much for the belief in Democracy. So much for counting every vote. These DUmmies don't WANT you to vote, they want the Legislature to make all the decisions for you.

Power to The People, as long as "The People" are all members of the State Legislature! And they call themselves Democratic!

"And be the first to call the cops. If the police come, sorting the business out will take so long that the petition circulator will be out of action for hours"

I hope you have a lot of free time to waste as it will take YOU twice as many hours to be released from jail after you are arrested for making false 911 calls. Petitioning in CA is NOT a crime, making false 911 calls IS!

son of godfather -- your hippie had it exactly right. Proportional electoral votes == representative gubmint.

The "w(h)inner take all" thing is what made Gore take the 2000 Florida election to court. If electoral votes were allocated by district, the result would be that the popular vote would be the electoral vote.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Hmm...and it's Republicans who hate the Constitution?

They just don't like the per district system because it would have given Bush 30 of Cali's electoral votes.

I mean, it's all bullshit. They were all for the popular vote when Gore won the most of it, but in 2004 Bush won it so now they are opposed to removing the Electoral college.

Um ... the Nazis were evil, but had some of the most brilliant scientific mind working for them.

The KOSmmunists are stupid and ignorant.

"Can anyone see a difference between Nazis and kos kids?"

Ummmmmm. The Nazis were actually effective for quite a while? The Nazis had guns and actually knew how to use them? The Nazis made more sense (i.e. the Nazis made no sense at all, but the kos kids literally make negative sense)?
The Nazis had snazzier uniforms? The helmets the Nazis wore were made of steel and were relatively effective while the helmets worn by the Kossacks are either tinfoil and are only effective if made of Reynolds Heavy-Duty TripleWrap Foil or they are those fulltime bicycle helmets worn by the kids on the short bus and stop neither bullets nor the Rove Mind Rays?

Am I getting close?

I'm having a hard time grasping that this is actually being suggested: assaulting signature gatherers exercising their constitutional rights.

Isn't this, in itself, an actionable offense?

I guess I'm naive, but this is stupendously dishonorable!

Apparently they do, actually, believe in "Anything To Win", no matter how debased.

I'm used to their ranting, but I was not expecting actual incitement to assault.

Mindboggling.

Simple yet elegant. Communists, stupid, and ignorant in six words. A masterpiece.
