William Rivers Pitt Warns About Posting Phony April Fool's Stories
DU Public Service Announcement
[...In just 24 business hours.]
Tomorrow, as you all know, is April Fool's Day.
[Karl Rove has already been indicted.....APRIL FOOLS!!!]
Here's what's going to happen: approximately every seven to nineteen seconds, a DUer will post a thread about a seemingly real news story or event that is, in fact, an April Fool's joke thread.
[Joke stories like about something that will happen on May 12, 2006?]
Nobody will fall for all of them, but everyone will fall for at least one of them (I tend to average three), because some of them will be very, very clever.
[Will they also be endorsed by crack journalist, Jason Leopold?]
Two simple rules for the day:
[a) Believe nothing published in Truthout.
b) Believe it even less if Will Pitt wrote it. ]
a) Try not to believe anything you read, and try to have a sense of humor about it when - not if, when - you get duped;
b) See "a."
[Ha! Ha! Ha! That Karl Rove indictment story has proven to be a fraud. Ha! Ha! It ruined my chances of ever being taken seriously by politicians I try to suck up to and destroyed what little journalism career I had in the first place. Ha! Ha!]
Enjoy, and you're welcome.
[Oh, I'm enoying this alright. And now to the DUmmies who are fools whether it is April or not...]
After I got had on the first one last year, I tried to stay away. But, still got had another time.
[You and the rest of DUmmieland were had bigtime on May 12, 2006.]
How do you think I avoid most of your threads
[Good thinking if you want to avoid being had.]
How prevalent ate copycat threads on April Fool's Day? If they're going to be all over the site, maybe I'll wait until Thursday to return.
[Yes, it will be safer in just 24 business hours.]
April first, isn't that the day Sara Palin is to be raptured?
[May 12 is the day when Pitt's credibility was ruptured.]
